  1. The rental market here is terrible at the moment; for a half decent 2 bedroom place you are looking at around $350 per week (if you're lucky!), and if you drive a car you will have to factor in the rising petrol prices. My husband and I spend around $100 per week on groceries, $50 per week on bus/train fares, and we put about $50 away every week to cover our electricity/phone bills. So you could probably survive on around $700 per week, not including fun money or petrol.

  2. We are paid fortnightly so expenses listed here are fortnightly.

Mortage $750 (would be equal to a $375 rental)

Shopping $600 (Average about $300 per week for 2 people)

Petrol $190 (fill up 60 litre fuel tank once every 5-6 days)

Health Insurance $160 (top cover 2 people)

House Insurance $30 (contents only would be cheaper)

Car Insurance $25 (depends of market value you insure it for)

    Fares $52 (2 zone smartrider - 10 trips)

    Electricity $50

    Gas $50

Water $35 useage / $45 rates (diregard rates if in a rental)

Local Council Rates $45 (diregard if in a ranta)

Variable: Clothing, Medical, Entertainment, Consumer Goods, Vet bills, Savings

Other costs not listed but mandatory:

    Annual Car rego fees $500

    Annual Drivers License $

    Parking Fees $

    Swimming Pool chemicals $

  3. you'll expense

    $350-400 a week

if you'll rent a house for like $230+ dollars, then

you can expense $100-$150 for the food and transport
