Weird burping problem...?

my cousin is 10 and she has this weird burping problem...every 5 to 10 minutes, she burps...its really weird...the rest of her behavior is completely normal...but im worried because my mom's old friend burped a lot too and she ended up with some weird neck disease...will it happen to her? she doesn't want to go to the doctor...but is there anything else we can do? is this normal or not?? plz help...thanx...
