Weird sound?

my car makes a weird screeching sound when it goes backwards. I drive a acura integra, manual. every time i go backwards in reverse or even just being on a hill, it makes a horrible screeching sound...loud sound. makes that sound even if i'm not in reverse. just wondering what is wrong
