i can shoot really well from mid range and 3's. but only when i take time to set up. i cant shoot off the dribble cuz it always come short, is that a problem?

  1. lack of practice.. that's your problem


  2. Short term no.  What this simply means it that you will have to be able to run off screens to get your shot.  Players such as Steve Alford and JJ Redick had great college careers doing that. Long term work on your conditioning ala Reggie Miller or Richard Hamilton.  Neither one of those guys were big creators off the dribble but they were great catch and shoot guys.  The would simply run their defender to death.  The good news is that you can shoot the ball, a lot of ppl cannot say that.  Keep working on your release and the sky is the limit.

  3. If youre playing high school ball then yes. You usually dont have time to set up fully and will have to be shooting off screens or off the dribble. The best thing you can do is just work on these things. Set up a garbage can or chair on the court, run around it and shoot. I was like you coming into grade 9, but since you already have the shot down from a stationary position then it will come very quickly.
