  1. The Vikings came from Scandanavia but they invaded and later settled in parts of the UK, don't know about Netherlands. I'm fairly sure they settled in Dublin, for example and northern England, not sure about Scotland. Normandy in France is so-called from Norsemen who invaded and later settled there, for example.

  2. Viking refers to the Norse (Scandinavian) people, famous as explorers, warriors, merchants, and pirates, who raided and colonized wide areas of Europe from the late 8th to the early 11th century. These Norsemen used their famed longships to travel as far east as Constantinople and the Volga River in Russia, and as far west as Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland. This period of Viking expansion is known as the Viking Age, and forms a major part of the medieval history of Scandinavia, the British Isles and Europe in general. While Vikings have traditionally been seen as no more than violent, acquisitive heathens, in more modern times they have sometimes been portrayed in a more heroic light. However, the consensus among modern historians is that they can also be seen as aspirational, adventurous peoples, with ingenuity in ship and town construction, and a proficiency as seafarers and traders to match.

I hope this helped to answer your questions, and good luck

  3. Denmark, yes. Holland, no.  If you were to get into the cultures of Pre-Christian Northern Europe, you're going to find lots of overlap, but to ask if the Dutch were "Vikings", nope.

  4. Yes, this is actually proven to be true, the vikings are originally dutch, just like everybody else in europe, are all dutch desendents. did you know that the dutch are the best type of humans? that was also proven. did you know that they are currently the tallest country?

  5. Actually if you are Scottish and Irish, Irish specifically from Dublin, the odds are very good.  Also, the towns of Scotland you are thinking of, the Viking towns, are almost all exclusively in the eastern lower side of the country close to England.  Another thing I need to mention though, is that Scotsmen are big boys.  They were big in the middle ages, and they are big now.  They did not get their height from the Vikings; it was already in their genes since BEFORE viking invasions if anything, it was the Scots who were taller, sometimes by as much as a full head, than the Vikings.  One particular warrior, Shane O'Neil, was 6'7.

Also, even though many Scotsmen will exceed six feet, and are easily the most naturally muscular men of Europe, the tallest people in Europe, are the Dutch.  Holland was settled in the north at least, by Vikings, and becaue the food was plentiful, they could grow tall.  Also the country is known for its milk.

Why the h**l would you want to be a Viking though?  Its cool enough being a Scotsman; only other breeds of white people, the Scotts do not carry as much stigma around the world for one.  In some places they are even liked; as a general rule, in all the wars the Brits have had the world over, the peoples they enslaved or colonized generally hated the English, but had no problems with the Scots.

I mean, you hear "oh, that cold hearted German pr*ck is at it again..." or "oh, those English are so mean and nasty" but tell me how often have you heard "d**n that stupid Scotsman mother f-er is making my life h**l again..."  tell me, how often have you heard that?

The native Americans of latin America loath the Spanish.  Mixed bloods, of course not, pure natives though, different story.  A lot of countries the world over despise the English, America included, and don't get me started on the Germans.  Can you name a group of people outside Europe though, that has hatred or animosity towards the Scots?

Being nice people paid of for them man; only the English hate them, but they don't count because they are "mean and nasty" a-holes anyway, so its okay when a Scotsman beats their brains in.

Man, stop trying to be a Viking wanabe and be proud of the Scottish in you, if people consider you a nice person, that is probably where you got your "nice" from.

    peace.

  6. im not picking afight with you friend

  7. It's entirely possible. The Vikings settled in the Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland, among other places.

  8. Could be, Brian Boru fought the Viking hordes in the battle of Clondarf in 1014 in Ireland. Many viking raiders had their way with the women of the lands they plundered so it's entirely possible.

  9. Your question is a reasonable one, but I regret to inform you that Vikings are not DIRECTLY Dutch. In the great migration of peoples, the Jutes and Saxons moved from Germania to the Netherlands, and then soem moved on the Britain. All Germanic peopels are cousins and are related to and descended from the Vikings. So although your history is directly Saxon, you are descended of Vikings.
