  1. I think maybe its you :) Maybe West Coast arent all that good when they play against some of the Victorian teams.. Didnt they lose to Freo today?

You cant always blame the umpire if the team are playing poorly :)

  2. just a few rebuttals:

    "umpires favouring Victorian teams"

    - victorian teams are not favoured, especially when they are playing interstate

    - all umpiring has been pretty awful this year and it is a uniform thing across the entire comp.

"afl wants to keep flag in their state (vic)"

    - surely, as the afl wants to expand, they want more success in interstate teams. geelong is the first vic team to win it since 2000, so 7 years. remember the salary cap concessions given to brisbane lions and sydney? remember it was eddie mcguire and collingwood (thats right, im singling out collingwood)  fans who said it wasnt fair, not the afl?

"vics are cocky (dream team game)"

    - victoria is the state of origin of most players in australia, more than twice the amount of players of any other state

    - i agree that if they were gonna bring back a form of state of origin, they shouldve brought it back fully, but if they are only gonna play one match it had to be vics v others. it couldnt be WA v others, since most of the others (j.brown, judd etc.) will be comprised of mostly victorian players anyway.

  3. nah its just you

  4. Yeah mate!

The Eagles tend to cop the bad end of the stick quiet alot, and the commentators on t.v, they're just as bad the one eyed bias...

  5. Yes. I agree the Vic teams are favoured.

Over the past couple of years someone in the media, I can't remember who but the results were published in the local newspaper, has carried out surveys on umpires & possible favoratism.

The results showed that Victorian teams did receive the best go from the umps. Collingwood at home received the best treatment & teams towards the top of the ladder were consistently well treated.

The trend was that the interstate teams fared the worst over the course of the season - even if such teams were positioned well above that of the Victorian opponent.

So, yes, I think it does happen. The majority of the umps are from Vic & some interstate ones have had to relocate to Melbourne to continue.

  6. it's just you buddy...

but you have a point - after the pathetic umpiring at the Pies vs Brisbane game, its obvious that we have a very low standard of AFL umpires
