Wh does my cockatiel hate toys??

ive had my tel for a month and he LOVES me .... i mean he hates to be anywhere with out me .... but he never plays with anything .... he plays with with buttons, and toothpicks for about 5 mins .... then wants attention from me .... ive tryed everything people say tiels love ... but nothing.

He's bonded to you and thinks you are his mate. He will start to play with toys if you leave him in his cage for longer periods of time. If things get real testy you could get him a companion. You can see Dora on my 360 he watches over my answers with his left eye, and my ear takes a beating when he wants attention.

not all birds like toys. i have a sun conure and she is afraid of the toys i try to give her. try using a toy that has a treat in it.

Some birds just don't know how to play with toys :-)

Try different types of toys:  Leather and beads, bells (the liberty type, not the jingle type with slits), shreddable toys, bright toys, wood toys, toys that make noise.  Sit with your bird and play with the toys yourself.  Laugh and have fun while  you're playing with the toys so you bird can see how much FUN it is.  And keep rotating the toys in your bird's cage so he doesn't become bored with them.

Your bird looks to you as the flock leader.  Show him the way :-)
