What's Sean Singletary like?

The Suns have traded D.J. Strawberry to the Rockets for someone named Sean Singletary. What kind of player is Singletary?

He's a point guard from Virginia with good shooting range. He got to the basket with ease in college but it's a different story in the NBA. He's lightning quick though, seriously. For a guy only 6 foot he's got some hops too. But I think he will heavily rely on his jumpshooting to start with.

He could, if he works at it, become the Rockets primary backup, but I think he'll start out as third stringer.

well first of, he's not a thug like strawberry is, and the only advantage dj has over him is height.  singletary was great at uva, and is one of only 2 players to have his number retired.  he was first team all conference three years in a row, and lead uva to a share of the acc regular season title his jr year along with jr reynolds

Singletary has a great basketball IQ. He thrived in college because of that and was a steal for Virginia. Mostly overlooked because of his lack of athleticism. He was one of the slowest guards in the ACC. Doesn't have the tools to be great in the NBA. Basically, he's an intelligent passer and an average shooter. He doesn't have the athleticism to keep up with the NBA pace though. He'll probably be in the D-League for most of this year.

Sank a jumper with 26 seconds left in regulation and hit winning basket with one second remaining in OT in 68-66 victory over Duke. Netted 33 points vs. American and followed with a career-high 37 points, including a career-best seven three-pointers, in win over Gonzaga. Recorded 25 points and six assists in victory over Arizona.

Sophomore (2005-06): Named to All-ACC First Team and USBWA All-District First Team. Finished third in ACC in free throw percentage (.845), fifth in scoring (17.7 ppg), fifth in steals (1.86 spg), sixth in assists (4.2 apg), and eighth in minutes played (33.8 mpg). Recorded 20 or more points 11 times during the season. Recorded 29 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in ACC Tournament quarterfinal loss to UNC. Scored a game-high 29 points and dished out four assist sin 37 minutes in win over Miami. Scored 13 straight points late in a victory at Virginia Tech. Scored a season-high 35 points to go along with six rebounds, six steals and four assists vs. Gonzaga.

Freshman (2004-05): Named to All-ACC Freshman Team. Ranked sixth in ACC in assist-turnover ratio (1.61), and ninth in assists (3.9 apg) and steals (1.66 spg). Ranked first among ACC freshmen in assists and steals, second in minutes (29.9 mpg), and third in scoring (10.5 ppg). Named ACC Rookie of the Week five times. Scored a team-high 23 points and had nine assists in career-high 45 minutes in double OT loss to Maryland. Scored a season-high 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds in victory over Auburn.

Strengths: Extremely athletic and fast point guard who can take it coast-to-coast, either finishing, pulling up for a jumper, or finding a fellow teammate on the break. Handles the halfcourt offense efficiently and is a quick-handed defender.
