What's World Community Grid?

I'm using Worldcommunitygrid.com and I have a lot of points. I know my computer analyse something. But How can It do It? For example Drug or Aids project. How can I help them?

The way this works is that your own computer processes information for various projects, as noted on the web site. This happens whenever your computer is on, even if it's idle. "Grid computing joins together many individual computers, creating a large system with massive computational power."

For instance,  the grid's first project, Human Proteome Folding, is identifying the proteins produced by human genes. With this information, scientists can understand how defects in proteins can cause disease, making it easier to find cures.

You will need an excellent power supply and excellent Internet access for this to work.
