I'm going on a cruise, and I read that there will be a cabin steward that can tell me about how things work. What do they also do?

  1. A cabin steward is like an air steward on a plane. He knows how everything works, where things are located on the ship, at what time meals are served, how to get garments dry cleaned, where to find your programs, and so forth.

Some stewards are female, by the way.

They have a number of cabins to look after, and their work is not easy. But they are well trained. You can also ask them for help if you are seasick, how to get a snack if you are hungry out of mealtimes, how to contact other passengers, what's okay to do and not..., such as what to wear to events, how long it will be before you dock, whether you are allowed in certain areas.

    Have a great time.

  2. He/she will be assigned to your room.  If you need anything at all, all you have to do is pick up the phone and they'll get it for you.  They also make sure that your luggage gets to your room, that you have everything you need when you check in (ie:  towels, beach towels, bathrobes, soap or shampoo, drinks or water.  They clean your room and change your bed every day and turn your bed down at night, leaving the next day's itinerary and a chocolate mint on your bed.  They also make these wonderful animals out of towels every night (always different every night).

They're so helpful, nice and friendly.  I always leave them a really good tip when I leave the ship.

  3. Its like a hotel floor manager, making sure the rooms/cabins are cleaned and so on.  Have a lovely trip.

  4. if you've ever seen the love boat it would be the purser
