  1. Accountants and bookkeepers keep track of the money coming into and going out of a business.  So, if you're an accountant, you can work anywhere as no business can exist without one.  Small businesses usually have a bookkeeper, but they often hire accountants to do income tax returns and audits.  Larger businesses may have many accountants on staff, each one overseeing a specific area of finance.

Being good in math is all well and good, but an accountant doesn't work in areas of higher math.  Dollars and cents and percentages are all that matter, and that's simple arithmetic.  More important is an innate desire to see everything in balance, to make sure everything is stored (filed) properly, and to organize everything efficiently.  For instance, outside of work, I like to cook and make quilts.  My spices are arranged alphabetically and my pots and pans are stored in descending order by size.  In my sewing room, I have spools of thread and matching bobbins together, all arranged by color.  My fabrics are organized by color and size--yardage, fat quarters, and scraps.

If you are normally disorganized or are not bothered by living in clutter, you might not like accountancy.

One good thing about accounting and bookkeeping is that there is always a demand for people in this field.  Even in a recession, a company needs an accountant to tell it how much money it's losing. ;-)

  2. They manage a businees's money.

  3. Someone who does books(accounting). It has stuff to do with taxes. It's usually very important in keeping organized.
