Question:

What's happening to my period?

Today is my first day of my period (not my first period ever, but of this month) and I woke up with kind of like a burning right in my entrance. It's killing. So I went to the bathroom to put in a tampon (I always get my periods Tuesday morning) and my pad is like black. It looks gooey and thick, which is not at all how my first days usually look. It's coming out in long strange and stuff. I'm on Alesse 28 because of extremely irregular periods (think two or three a year)... but this is my fifth month on it and it's never been like this. I know it could just be old blood... but it's just so strange, it's never like this, and plus I have that weird pain.

  1. I get that too. The blood thing. It's just a heavy flowing time, and that weird pain could be one of the menstrual symptoms you're having on your period days. So yea, it's a heavy bleeding time. You could ask your doctor on how to relief that pain and perhaps you can get some medication to ease the flow. I wouldn't really worry too much about it.

  2. At present many women face such problem-Don't worry--It is for your periodical disorder-consult with a gynaecologist. Take healthy and nutritious diet and do some free hand exercises.

  3. You are probably just having clotting.  It happens because sometimes the lining in your uterus is a little thicker.  It can look a very dark red, almost black, and it's nothing to be alarmed about.

***Okay, well if you have a burning pain at the entrance of your v****a you could have a rash from all the extra wet stuff.  Very often I will feel like I have a rash when I have my period since there isn't much time things are actually dry there.

I agree though...if you are that concerned give your gynecologist a call.  I hope you feel better!

  4. Jezebel is right, even so, the pain is something you should be concerned about.  Go to the doc or obgyn now, so they can see what's going on.

You don't say how old you are.  Any chance you could be going through perimenopause?

added note--okay you're not getting ready for menopause.  See your doc hon, even though problems with your period is one of the lesser side effects of alesse, its still a side effect.  See your doc or obgyn and good luck!
