What's that British pub song?

Our (United States) national anthem is performed to the tune of a British pub song. What's it's name? I know that we "took" 'God Save the King' as 'Our Country Tis of Thee' as another anthem as well. Funny how we can never break away from the Brits. Which is a good thing, in a way.

  1. It's actually called The Anacreontic Song. Full lyrics are here:

  2. I'm American and it is called To Anacreontic in Heaven.  But the lyrics  for The Star Spangled Banner were composed by Francis Scott Key an American.  The pub song was written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society.  A London social club.
