So I am teaching at a daycare and I'm trying to find the name of this activity. It's a giant circle and it's all different colors. I remember playing with it when i was younger. I'm trying to find out if the school I'm working in has one. I remember you would put balls in the middle and such...does anyone know the name of the game I'm talking about?? And do you know anymore activities i can do with it. I need to know the name by tomorrow :) THANKS

  1. i agree its parachute!

Other activities that you can play with them is hide-and-seek, or duck duck goose, or say an ABC letter and ask the child to name an animal starting with that letter.

    Good Luck

  2. It's called parachute!!! I loved that game when I was a kid, my class use to get it out during gym and we'd all throw our hands up, still holding the parachute and then pull them down fast and sit down on it and just stay under it until it deflated!!! It was so much fun!!!!

  3. parachute, but it was banned you can play with bean bags and stuff like that,

  4. yeah..it's a parachute! that thing was AMAZING! I heard they banned that  from schools...

  5. Why would they ban them?

  6. The only thing that comes to mind from that description is a parachute.  You can purchase one very inexpensively from www.orientaltrading.com.  I just got one (6ft) from there for like $8.  The kids have a blast, and it is a great coordination toy.  We use it during our music time, as well as during our "ocean life" section to be the surface of our ocean to swim under.  You can find lots of ways to use your parachute on www.perpetualpreschool.com.

  7. We have a parachute in my classroom. We are doing a winter/snow theme, so we put cotton balls on it and made it "snow"....the kids LOVED it. We have also tried ping pong balls and tried not to let them fall down the hole in the middle. I use it to see if they can follow directions, "lift it up," "put it down," " walk in a circle," "wiggle it fast," "wiggle it slow." AND the big one is STOP!  You can do lots of activities, make them up as you go....

Why would they be banned, I don't understand?

  8. I agree, it's the parachute game.  Balls of different sizes can be placed into the center.  You can then name a specific color ball that the children need to try to get off of the parachute.  Have the children bounce the balls as high as they can, then as low.  Take the balls off the parachute.  Have the children raise the chute as high as they can in the air, then sit on the chute with the children inside.  Repeat and see how long they can get the chute to stay up.  Have children holding the chute up and call out 2 students and have them act like a specific animal to cross under the chute (watch for running into each other).  Have fun...my students love it!
