What's the real story here?

Imperial Oil has decided on the basis of an in-house environmental assessment to close seven marine gas pumps on Canada's west coast. The news media won't ask what's in the study. One local radio show wasn't even interested. See http://www.mybeautifulbc.com/blogs/cbcEarlyEd2.php.

Coincidentally, there's a boat show in Vancouver right now.

Does anyone know anything about this study and what's prompting these closures?

  1. I agree with the first answer

  2. What I've read it was a strategic assessment and one conclusion was to get out of marine fueling stations all together.  The risk of a spill or leakage may have had some influence on the termination of service.

"The company determined this particular piece of business was no longer part of Imperial's core business," Pius Rolheiser said.
