of getting a tennis license?

my dad wants to teach people a tennis lesson but i heard you need a license to teach people?

so i want to know the requiments of getting a tennis license.

You don't have to have a license (or certification as it is more commonly known) to teach tennis lessons, but it helps.  Especially if he wants to teach at a club.  The two ways to get certified in the U.S. are USPTA and PTR.  USPTA is an easier route because you can get certified throughout the US, but PTR is a certification program started by Dennis Van Der Meer and is located in Hilton Head, SC.  I was certified as a USPTA Pro so that is what I know the most about. You have to register which costs between $100 and $200, they'll send you a study folder and you have to take a 4 part test which tests your knowledge of tennis, your ability to give tennis lessons, your ability to hit all the shots in tennis, and your ability to diagnose problems with someone's form.
