What Amp size?

Question

I plan on getting Two 10in Mtx subs ( 200 watts Rms 4ohm) What size amp would be good for these subs ?

2 channel amp right ?

mono amp.

mtx,alpine,kicker,rockford,jl audio and last but not least hifonics are all good amps. look for somthing that is 400w rms at 1 ohm or 2 ohm depending on how you wire them.

you want an amp with about 400watts RMS @ 2 or 8ohms

since they are 4ohm SVC subs they can be wired to give you impedances of 2 or 8ohms at the amp, the lower the final impedance the easier/cheaper to power but the lower the sound quality (2ohms sounds fine though)--- here is a diagram of your wiring options http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer...

you are better off going with a mono (1-channel) amp over a 2-channel amp because it will run cooler and they are made specificly for subs

also you want to go with a CEA-compliant brand- which means that the amps have been tested and produce or exceed the advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion

A 2-channel, anything over the combined wattage of the two subs is probably a bad idea, because the speakers are at a higher risk to blow.  Therefore... nothing over 400 Watts
