For example I know that smoking causes lung cancer and drinking is bad for the liver. But what do other drugs do to you? Like marijuana or cocaine or meth or ecstasy? Why are they bad for you?

  1. marijuana is pretty safe for you, it does not cause lung cancer or anything and not one person has died from it.

other drugs like ecstasy on the other hand are pretty messed up. for example

serrotonin are cells in ur brain that control mood, hunger, sleep, s*x drive, pain, thoughts. on a normal daily basis serrotonin goes into the synapse in SMALL numbers linking to receptors keeping you 'normal'. when someone has depression, sleep disorders, eating disorders, s*x disorder its usually from a chemical imbalance related to serrotonin and its receptors for example : you cannot produce much serotonin, serotonin cannot go into the synapse, etc.

ecstasy spills all your serrotonin into your synapse, ALL OF IT so instead of a small number as when your sober now its all of ur serotonin. once all ur serrotonin is in ur synapse it links to the receptors over and over and over overstimulating ur receptors. after a few hours serotonin leaves the synapse and goes through monoamine oxidase 'MAO' where most of it is destroyed to prevent 'serrotonin syndrome' which can be fatal. so now that the serrotonin is gone ur receptors are left tired, overworked, and confused so some shut themselves down. while ur receptors are shutting down and ur serotonin is being destroyed another cell 'dopamine' (which controls learning, breast feeding) goes into the serotonin pool, turns into hydrogen peroxide (hair bleach) aka 'oxidizing itself'. so after ecstasy use, with depleted errotonin and depleted receptors ur most likely to get depressed, lower s*x drive, lower appetite status, and whatever else serrotonin controls.

    know what i meen?
