  1. Lego started out as wooden blocks created by Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter from BILLUND, DENMARK around 1932. Two years later he started calling it "Lego", which comes from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play well". In 1947 the blocks started to be made of plastic, and in 1949 the blocks were able to lock together like the Legos we know today.
