What Do Baby Deer Eat?

They are in our backyard and I wanted to know what we can give them to eat that's healthy and safe.

Baby deer drink their mother's milk. Once they begin to get teeth, they begin nibbling grass and leaves just like their mom. They'll then eventually wean completely off the milk and eat vegetation only. It's best not to put anything out at all. While you might like them in your back yard, it's easy for deer to become too accustomed to being around people and in people's property and become a nuisance. Often deer that are lured into yards with treats begin to vist the neighbors and end up being shot because they have become troublesome or get injured on roadways because they're frequenting more habited areas looking for hand outs. Just watch them and enjoy them.

milk, until they're weaned from their mother, then grass,leaves ect... you could get something for them to drink(water bucket)or a salt l**k...

Don't feed them, let them feed themselves. All they need is for someone to get them used to people being a source of food.... "but I won't be feeding them directly." It doesn't matter if you're feeding them directly or not, just like any animal, they've got the sense to put you coming outside and new food in the area together, and I'm sure you'll feel REAL good when they approach the wrong person. Let them be wild deer that happen to live in your neighborhood rather than "pets" because they're not pets. The healthiest safest food for them is what instinct and nature tells them to eat.
