What I need for skiing?

hi, im going skiing in two weeks so just wondering what i need. i have a water/wind proof jacket and pants, ski googles, gloves, hat, thermals, the helmet, boots and skis are being rented from the resort. so i there anything else i need? and how many and what type of layer should i wear in between the thermals and the ski suit? thanks a lot!

Snacks for the slopes, water, a change of clothing (especially socks), comfortable shoes when you get done, Advil.  Just to name a few.

wear a hoodie between your jacket and thermals. Also, make sure you have good skiing socks or else your feet will freeze. Their expensize, but in my opinion, it's money well spent.

and if your going to be for awhile and during the day and at a high altitude mountain, i suggest you wear sunscreen....unless you want  google tanlines!

Ski socks, a couple of turtleneck shirts and a sweater, also SPF 45+ suncream, dancing shoes and a swimsuit (optional) for the hot tub.

  I also take several 1 gallon zip lock bags to use as ice packs on the sore muscles before the hot tub.

You are all set, just on thing that will help is, a back pack. You sound like a casual skier. A backpack to carry your food, camera, Hand warmers and extra things, and any other little things.

Is this your very first time skiing?

If so, you don't have to go all out! I just wear a waterproof thin snowsuit, with some layers underneath.(and flex glasses)

You don't really need a helmet, unless your under 10 and are planning to do some jumps.

Most people on their first time go on the smaller hills, which don't usually involve sereious head injuries.

As for the goggles, good luck with those, even though a nice pair of sport flex shades would do just as good.

You might also want to get a pair of poles as well, even though i didn't use them very much the first time i went, they still make it easier to travel to each hill at the top of the mountain.

Also, don't worry too much about 'warmth' i think wearing a thick tracksuit under your suit will be enough + boots + Shades + gloves.

But, the one thing you should NEVER DO is wear a scarf! They could get stuck in the lift while your going up, even tucking it into your jacket still isn't good enough. And, when your ski it could fly out in your face and make you crash.

When you get your lift ticket, make sure you put it on your pocket zipper (or ski pass holder, if you have a special ski jacket)

If you put it on your coat zipper, once again it could fly in your face!

Some hot packs in your gloves is also a really good idea! (they feel so good)

You DEFINITELY need a neck gaiter or scarf... turtle fur makes great fleece gaiters.  I could NOT ski without mine.  I would also suggest a pair of ski socks.. smart wool makes good ones.  These socks pull moisture away from your feet keeping you dry and warm.  If you tend to get cold easily I would also recommend foot and hand warmers.  You can get them at the convenience store on the mountain or at your local Wal-Mart store.  I also like to bring along my Ipod for tunes while cruising down the mountain.. make me ski better!

As for what to wear over thermals again it depends on how cold you get.  I would say just the thermals and snow pants on your legs is fine unless it is like below zero.  On your top half, I would just put a fleece over the thermal to keep you warm and the wind out.  That is what works for me and I tend to get cold easily.  If you get warm easily I would leave out the fleece all together.  Remember you will start warming up once you are skiing.  

As far as snacks, I would say to bring an energy bar with you in your jacket pocket on the hill.  Keeps you going longer!
