What IS a headache??

Question

my kid asked and i couldn't even explain it to him.

cuz idk.

if you give a technicle answer it would be appreciated.

A tension headache is the most common kind of headache.  This occurs when there are muscles in the shoulders, neck, or head that are tense.  The tension in the muscles causes irritation to nerves, which registers as a headache.

There are other kinds of headache.  One dramatic kind is called a migraine.  This is when tension results in contraction in blood vessels in the brain.  After the tension is relieved, the blood vessels expand again, and much more blood comes into the brain.  For some reason the brain doesn't like this, and responds with visual distortions, nausea, and severe headache.
