  1. Bearded dragons require a range of temperatures for optimal health. This range is called the thermal gradient. The warm side of the tank should be between 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit (30-32 Celsius) with a basking spot that reaches 95-110 degrees Fahrenheit (35-43 Celsius). The other side of the tank should have temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s (21-26 degrees Celsius). Temperatures should be measured with either a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer equipped with a probe or a temp gun. Stick on strip thermometers and analog thermometers should be avoided as they have been known to give readings that are off by as much as 20 degrees.

  2. At night low 80s(NOT too cold) Should range in the day from 85-110. Set it up so that the beardie can CHOOSE his temp by moving around. They bask at 110F, they dont like it ALL the time at the same temp.

  3. They can have a side of the tank that hovers around 85 degrees. But their basking areas should be 100-110 degrees. This gives them a chance to cool off when they want and warm up at their convenience. Night time temps shouldn't fall below 70 for him to be comfortable, but under 60 can be dangerous.

  4. Most reptiles are kept at 75-90 degrees, so I guess 85. Try both temperatures for a few days each, and see which one he moves around in more. The colder a reptile is, the less active he is. I don't know why, maybe to conserve heat or something,  but that's what I've heard.

  5. When I had beardies, their basking spot was around 100 to 110 degrees and they seemed to be content. The heat was turned off at night and allowed to drop into the low 70's.
