  1. Cat f***s can make a pregnant woman get Toxoplasmosis. A big threat to a pregnancy.  I believe its from worms in the cat f***s.

  2. Yes, you can get toxoplasmosis from your cats. HOWEVER, most doctors agree that if you have had these cats for a while that you are probably IMMUNE to it.

  3. Cat f***s can contain a parasite called taxoplasmosis.  Taxoplasmosis, if you acquire the infection, can cause a few problems with the pregnancy.

This is because your immune system is weakened and because if you get an infection the baby can get the infection too.

You could get severely ill from it, get an infection in your brain, develop a neurological disease, lose the pregnancy, and taxoplasmosis is a known cause of congenital birth defects (so is rubella),  "Most newborns with toxoplasmosis show no obvious symptoms. However, about 1 in 10 infected babies has a severe infection evident at birth (3). These newborns often have eye infections, an enlarged liver and spleen, jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) and pneumonia. Some die within a few days of birth. Those who survive sometimes develop mental retardation, severely impaired eyesight, cerebral palsy, seizures and other problems.

Without treatment, about 85 percent of infected babies who appear normal at birth develop problems months to years later (3, 4). These include eye infections that may affect sight, learning disabilities and hearing loss. Toxoplasmosis during pregnancy also can result in miscarriage, preterm delivery or stillbirth. (3, 5)"

You're probably immune to it since you've been changing your cats litter for so long, but as a precaution you just should not change the cat litter.

You don't need to stay away from your cats, just stay away from the litter pan.

The misconception, though, is that people can only get taxoplasmosis from dirty cat litter.  That isn't true.  You can get taxoplasmosis from raw/undercooked meat, unwashed produce, or drinking unclean water.

The ferret p**p won't have taxoplasmosis, but ANY f***s can contain ecoli and other bacteria that -- because you are pregnant, your immune system is weakened -- could make you sick.

Just stay away from pooh ;)

You said in your other question you're married.  Have the hubby change the litter!

    Good luck.

  4. something in their p**p is no good for you while you are pregnant

  5. If your cat goes outside or eats raw meat, they can contract toxoplasmosis, which is a parasite found in cat f***s.  If you ingest it, it can cause birth defects or miscarriage.  The good news is, if you have cats, and have been changing the litter box for some time, you have most likely already contracted it at some point (in the rare case that your cats even have it).  Once you have contracted the parasite once, it can no longer harm you.  I still change the kitty litter box and I am 30 weeks, I just use disposable gloves when I do it and throw them away and wash my hands before touching anything. If you want to be extra careful, wear a mask also, although I found it very unlikely that I was going to flick cat litter up into my mouth so I never have.  Better yet, if you have a hubby, boyfriend, roommate, etc., have them do it for you!

  6. Because of the germs in the litter.

  7. There is something in the cat's f***s (a parasite named toxoplasma gondi) that can endanger the foetus. I would suggest letting your hubby/boyfriend take care of the litter.

    Recommandations :

    # Be careful not to breathe in dust when cleaning the cat litter box.

    # Clean the litter box daily so that the parasite does not have a chance to become infectious.

    # Avoid cleaning cat litter boxes if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.

    # Wear gloves when cleaning the cat litter box, then wash your hands
