Question:

What about global warming?

Do you think that we have either the technological means or the political will to reverse global warming at this point? Do you think that the process has already reached a tipping point that makes it impossible to reverse no matter what we do from this point on? Do you think that the human race is extinct but merely is not aware of this yet? Do you think that collectively we are like alcholics or drug addicts in a state of denial about our fate? Why or why not?

  1. technology - yes - the technology to solve global warming already exists.

political will or economic feasibility - not sure

  2. what dumbass people don't realize is that, IF THERES NO PLANET, THERES NO ECONOMY, so all political focus really should be on global warming

  3. Yes and the saddest part is that it is all unnecessary.  Water and sewage can be easily kept apart.  The jet stream (150 mph at elevation of 3,000 feet) has the potential, once collected, to supply all of the transportation and cooling needs that could arise.  The technology is here but the Government denies its knowledge thereby continuing their control over a pirated and brainwashed populace.

  4. reverse all this snow to sun shine! how does technology do that

  5. We should ask ourselves why we have seemingly decided that Global Warming is fact.  Scientists should never state that something has been determined or it is factual....they should always be in a state of asking questions to come as close to the truth as science will allow.

No one should be persecuted for their opinions but they are just that, opinions.  Data can be manipulated and skewed to benefit any theory that you want.

There are a lot of scientists out there that are receiving death threats and having funding revoked because they haven't joined the C02 Global Warming Bandwagon.

Please read this interesting article as it is a different view, albeit opinionated about this very touchy issue.

  6. We've gone beyond the pt. of no return, but it'll be a slow process.  Yet, in 50 yrs.  billions of $s worth of shore property will be good only for fish-breeding.

  7. Solar Power Party voted in on Municipal and Federal levels at least. The platform Solar Power jobs,  protection of environment from The Military,  Anti-War,  promise to set up car factories for Solar Power, electric cars. Party like this everywhere in world required. Green Party is there but not enough. Cities with  Mayors for Solar Power required,  Senators,  every other type of politician. Solar Power Movement.  Marches for Solar Power,  Solar Power Media required to promote agenda. Sudan Solar Power Party good,   Solar Power Party in Iraq, war over.

  8. There's no doubt we have the technological means.  We have plenty of renewable energy source options (solar, offshore and onshore wind, wave, geothermal, etc.) as well as the nuclear option.  Alternative fuel technologies are rapidly advancing in the transportation sector.  Telecommuting and teleconferencing are reducing the need for long-distance travel, etc. etc.

The issue is with implementing these technologies, which is where your political will question comes in.  That's a tricky one to answer.  The good news is that while the US has held up international efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to this point, our next president will be much more conscious of the issue, whether it be Clinton, Obama, or McCain.  Even Romney is a step up from Bush.

Some of us are in denial about the problem, but most accept it, and our fate has not yet been sealed.  Scientists generally agree that we need to reduce our worldwide greenhouse gas emissions 80% by the year 2050, and while this is a very challenging goal, it is not impossible.  All of the Democratic presidential candidates have plans on how to accomplish this goal in the USA.

We're nearing a turning point which will determine if we have the political will to solve this problem, but we haven't yet arrived at that critical juncture.

  9. Oh, I love this. I figure I'm going to live another 20/25 yrs. By then it will be h**l on earth, I will observe, I will depart.
