What activities are there in Guanacaste?

I will be going to Costa Rica in about a week. One place i may be going to is Guanacaste. Before I commit to going there, I would like to know what there is to do there. I know there are beautiful beaches. But what else?

Guanacaste is all about beautiful beaches and pleasant weather. The place has a lot to offer to the tourists by way of wonderful natural scenery and exciting water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, horse back riding, surfing and a host of other options. Tourists have a lot of Things to do in Guanacaste. This is one reason why they love coming to this place.

You can try your hand at water rafting in the many rivers that flow through the region. You can also try kayaking both in the river and the ocean. You would find all kinds of river to go rafting in. The Lake Arenal in Costa Rica has been ranked as one of the best wind surfing spots. You can enjoy the beach breaks, river mouth breaks, point breaks and reef breaks. Rafting is one of the best Things to do in Guanacaste.

Guanacaste is also the best spot to go fishing. The tourists would find that the place has some of the best waters and it is an excellent place for inshore fishing. Some of the common game fishes are: wahoo, tuna, mahi-mahi, sailfish, roosterfish and many more.

The place is also great to indulge in snorkeling or scuba diving. There is a beautiful marine life to see. The warm water supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. You can dive into the tranquil blue waters of the sea and view the exotic aquatic life.

One of the most important Things to do in Guanacaste is visit the many parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the region. You should definitely go to Rincon de la Vieja Park. You can go hiking in this place and travel through its landscape covered with waterfalls, volcanic craters, geysers and a lake. This is a fascinating place. It would be sheer pleasure to explore this wonderful area.

One of the Things to do in Guanacaste is engage in bird watching. You can try to sight the quetzal, the colorful local bird. Besides this, there are a number of other exotic birds in the forests of the region.

You can visit the Arenal Volcano National Park. This is famous for its fireworks at night. There is also a lake beside the mountain. There are plenty of adventures that you can engage yourself in while you are at the place.

Well, that answer is amazing! I've been here for 14 years, and she essentially summarized it all.  Visit the national parks because they are truly beautiful.  Waterfalls, rain forests, CLOUD forests, beaches...Guanacaste has got it all.  You can hike on your own or with a tour guide, or you can do fourwheeler tours, horseback riding tours, surf trips, etc.  There are also many canopy tours (zip lines) that are just completly thrilling. I've done two of them myself and I was left speechless.  Also, I saw she mentioned Arenal.  Arenal is so amazing and breath taking, as well as being the only remaining active vulcano in the country (don't worry, you'll be fine). Last it erupted was actually in 1996, but everything's fine.  It't a beautiful provice all in all, and maybe you can just sort of "wing it" while here, and pick the tour according to your mood! I've done that before and it's turned out to be a blast!
