is there actually general scientific "ages" to describe different periods of time, if so what are they?

I'm confused.  When I was born in 1941 we were having war-thing.  Soon after that we entered what was then called the Nuclear Age, then what one of my school teachers once called, the New Elizabethan Age.  Later we entered what we then called the Space Age.

My guess is we're now in the Global Warming Age of Terrorism and the End of Days.
