What airline should I fly for?

Hello,

I want to be an airline pilot. I'm 15 and I already take flying lessons. I just don't know which airline is the best! Which one is best based on annual salary? Also I prefer Boeing. Thanks!

go to college and finish flight school before you even think of that question. Also, airlines select only a few pilots that have not come from the airforce since it is a high-quality system for pilot training.

Apply for Japanese airlines such as All Nippon Airway(ANA) or Japan Airlines (JAL) if you don't care about working for foreign carriers.

They will give you flight training in the U.S.(ANA at Arizona, JAL at California) with getting paid.

After you have completed your flght training, then you can start as first officer with only 600+ hours. In U.S., you have to log more flight time to get hired.

Also, comaparing to other airlines over the world, Japanese airlines tend to change their fleet to newer models more frequently.That means, you will have more chance to fly newer models.

Language is not problem because English is the universal language in aviation.

If you are willing to become an airline pilot, please remember that you have this kind of choice as well.

Don't concern yourself about it now. By the time you're ready many of the ones around today will have gone the way of Pan Am, Eastern and TWA. Southwest and Jet Blue will still be around though. If you put your sights on pilot pay, you may not have a job. Besides jet fuel, labor costs are what's killing dynasaurs like United, American, Delta etc.

Send out applications and resumes to EVERYONE!

A bad month at a scumbag outfit is better than working hard at a dead end job. At least you'll be current and qualified in something and your logbook won't be getting stale.

And don't step on too many toes either. Your copilot today may be your chief pilot tomorrow, and we all know about paybacks.

In 8 years any answer today will be wrong, or a lucky guess. Only the best pilots get the best jobs. No matter what you do, being one of the best at it demands better treatment than a so so ho hum that would be lucky to work 3 mo's a year.

i am getting ready to go to delta connection academy in the fall, ive heard alot of good things about delta commercial pilots. good pay and good personal relations withing the company. of course pay is based on the size of aircraft and experience. most pilots however are required to be over 21 and have a 4 year college degree, but not all. delta is definately the best in salary, starting in 60k range and 10 year potential in the 200k range for captains for 737's and bigger aircraft...continental and american are the lowest paying other than smaller subsidary airlines

HEY MATT!!!! READ THIS THROUGH!

YES! FLY FOR SOUTHWEST! They are probably the friendliest airline, they are all boeing (737's), and they are one of the best paying airlines!

Basically, I want to fly for Southwest or Alaska because they are both like you said all proudly boeing. They even say on the sides of the planes "proudly all boeing" so I'm guessing they're not planning on purchasing any filthy stinkbus planes soon. I was always concerned with flying for other larger intercontinental airlines because if you flew a large plane such as the 777 or 747, well, yeah it's a cool plane, but they have crew rests. I was chatting with a pilot and he says when you fly those large planes you don't always fly the plane. A different pair of pilots may takeoff/land, and when you do shifts, you may only watch the plane when it's cruising, and get no action at all. Also, large planes mean long flights over continents, and making you be away from home longer. It can even cause you to move overseas if the base is not in the pacific coast. so, Southwest or Alaska are pretty good airlines because their bases are in our area (we wouldn't have to move), they have all boeing which is good, but also all 737s meaning you have the aircraft all to yourself, no shifts, you make short flights (not away too long), and they have very good pay, particularily southwest. Also, southwest has some real characters. I've seen videos of the pilots themselves joknig around, singing, etc. It happened to me once, the pilot sang a song for us! I would really like that invironment. Wouldn't you? Your first year as captain for Southwest you'll make approx. $162,000. After 12 years $185,000. <Southwest. Alaska> First year approx. $120,000 and 12 approx: $138,000. Both are great choices (I really like alaska's design) but southwest is friendlier and pays more. That'd be cool if we both flew for southwest.

Oh, and also, you know how you wanted to fly for hawaiian airlines? If you fly for alaska, they now make trips to hawaii!  http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=12... so you could still make trips to hawaii if you flew with alaska. Well, I'm dead set on those two. Hopefully they are hiring when It's my turn!

Sorry, dunno about layoffs or bankruptcy bla bla can't spell. I'm guessing southwest isn't going bankrupt soon though. :P I think United has too many pilots and are actually firing pilots though. That's really not a good choice.
