What am I thinking?

My family and large extended family has planned a family reunion in the Bahamas in mid October! My baby is due on September 24. Family is a huge thing with us, so I am pretty much expected to be there.

Of course I promised to be there....

My husband and I would be traveling with a 1 month old and an 18 month old.

Please tell me this isn't crazy. Even though I know it totally is.

  1. That sounds crazy to me.  But, I'm sure you'll have a lot of help while you're there since you have a big family.

  2. It will be crazy traveling but you are not crazy. We take our kids to Disneyland every year last year we went with a 4,2, and a 6 month old. It was crazy but worth it. You will be fine. Don't for get to enjoy your self!

  3. no more crazy then my traveling home to Australia from Atlanta for my mothers wedding...alone with a four year old and seven month old...we leave Monday

be thankful that you have your husband to help you...you'll be fine...

    its a short trip...mine is 24+ hours...

    who's crazy now????

  4. Sounds a little crazy but see what the doc says about it.

  5. You are insane. This will be an unhappy trip :(

  6. Totally crazy but you WILL survive it.

  7. I have seen a 1 month old at the beach. You may want to ask your doctor because infants are prone to get viruses and other sicknesses because of their weak immune systems. I am sure your family will understand if you are not there. Good Luck!

  8. hey sis!! I'm so glad I found your account thing. Ps we will be at this crazy Albequerqe family reunion with my family of 8 so you better be there!! And I can't wait to see baby!! You know that you won't even have to have the baby or Alyse much for that matter cuz all the family will be holding them! And lysie needs to play with my kids and all the other 40 sum cousins.

    Love ya see ya soon!!

  9. My boys are the same months apart and I couldn't imagine traveling with them when they were that little!

I wouldn't worry too much though.  It sounds like you have a very large and very close family I'm sure you'll get a volunteer or two to help out!

I would start making a list now of everything you will need to take for the children, you and your husband.  Once the baby arrives you probably won't have a lot of free time to focus on packing and it will be a lot simpler to work from a list.  That way nothing will get forgotton.  Call ahead to see if the hotel has crib and/or info. on someplace that rents them, etc.  The more you get done ahead of time the easier it will be when it comes time to travel.

    Good luck and have fun!
