You can give them away on Freecycle or Craigslist. Some places like Goodwill or Salvation Army will take them and repair them as neccessary. You could also check your local recycling center and see what pieces or portions they would take and the same with the local junkyard. Just because the appliance doesn't work as a whole doesn't mean it's parts can't be reused to fix another appliance.

You can always try Freecycling them.  I saw a post the other day where a person was looking for a non-working chest freezer for storing animal feed.  

And if they are working at all, there are usually plenty of people willing to take appliances off your hands.
