  1. Biscuits are thin , flat ,football shaped pieces of wood  used to join pieces of wood

    A biscuit "pocket " is  a groove cut into the wood w/ a special tool .

    Biscuits are inserted in the grooves.

    Glue is applied to the pocket , biscuit & wood edges then clamped.

    The glue causes the biscuit to swell up & holds the joint tight
