  1. SUV's are large, expensive, gas-guzzling over rated piles of junk!  Have you EVER seen one that actually looked good?

  2. S U V stands for Sub-compact Utility Vehicle

  3. Sport Utility Vehicle

  4. SUV = Sport Utility Vehicle. They are classed as trucks and can be FWD (front wheel drive), RWD (rear wheel drive), or four wheel drive. SUVs vary in size from small to giant. The smallest ones are usually FWD and the largest ones are either RWD or four wheel drive.

    Examples:

Toyota RAV 4 (small), Honda Element (small), Honda Pilot (medium), Nissan Murano (medium), Dodge Durango (large), Chrysler Aspen (large), Ford Explorer (large), Chevrolet Suburban (large), Ford Excursion (giant), Hummer H1 (giant)

The best gas mileage you'll see is with the smallest SUVs, typical mileage is low - mid 20s. The larger they get the lower those figures will be.

If you're in the market to purchase a car I suggest purchasing a small economy car like the Chevy Aveo, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla (mine is an '06 and gets 35mpg in the city with an automatic, 40mpg if I "hypermile").
