  1. They're a nuisance, but some folks are willing to put up with the hassle in order to not wear glasses.

See an eye doctor and ask if you can get a trial pair of disposable lenses. Should be a cheap way to find out if they're for you.

You will have trouble inserting them at first. You have to train yourself to not mind having a finger in your eye. Your reflexes will try to convince you otherwise, but it can be overcome.

  2. in my opinion, i like them a lot better than glasses. I was never into glasses to start off with because it would always bother me when i wore them like it would fall off when i move around or it gave me headaches, etc. I switched to contacts and it sucked at first BUT trust me on this, it gets much better later. I had the worst time getting them on the first day! But i found out it's just nerves that messes you up, so you gotta keep on wearing them and get practice and after a few days, your going to start to become like a pro. But there are cons about contacts. You should becareful on which brand you buy because there are many different types such as soft or hard lense. When i first wore contatcs, my optomitrist gave me hard lense and it would dry me eyes out so bad and once they literally fell out when i was blinking during school. I asked my optomitrist to let me try different and i wen't through about 3 different kinds until i finally settled on the best one, Acuvue Oasis. I have really dry eyes so this stuff owrks really nice! Also, if you have bad allergies, i warn you. It can get ugly sometimes. For me, i get terrible allergies during the summer so when i have my contacts in, sometimes i would itch them and it would drive my eyeballs crazy. You got to becareful about taking care of your lenses too, spending $60 and then ending up ripping them would not be very satisfying. When you handle the lenses in your hands, make sure your hands are clean and don't put a lot of force on them or they can tear. Make sure you try different solutions for your contacts, the solution can also affect the comfortness in your eyes so experimenting is good. OVERALL, contacts are worth it, IF you take good care of them. I would still choose contacts anyday over glasses. Good Luck and make sure you choose your brand of contacts, solution that YOU feel comfortable using and never be afraid to ask your optomitrist to try samples of solution or contacts!

  3. theyre great.  they don't hurt much at all in my experience, you can even sleep in them without getting much more than mild discomfort.  ive had mine in since 9 am and it's almost 12 at night now and i dont even feel them.  they can be a pain in the butt learning how to put them in, but they are definately worth the effort.  not only do they look better, but everything is so much clearer than with glasses.  no smudges, no scratches, definately worth it.

  4. Contacts are awesome!  I can empathize with your hatred for glasses .  I hate them too, but unfortunately they are necessary even if you have contacts.  Here are some reason I prefer contacts to glasses

    1) You have peripheral vision.

    2) less minification magnification that with glasses because the lens is close to the eye.

    3) I prefer having a natural appearance and that is not possible with glasses.

    4) When I first started wearing corrective lenses regularly, I would get bad headaches and nausea.  I did not experience this as badly with contacts.

It will take some time to get used to putting something in your eye and your eye's natural reaction is to blink.  It took me a while to learn to put them in, but it is pretty easy now.  They do require more responsibility on your part to clean them and care for your eyes.

Also even though some lenses are approved for overnight use, try not to wear them overnight because you are depriving your eyes of oxygen and increasing the possibility of infection.  I have slept in mine a few times, but try to avoid it.

There is no reason to wear contacts while sleeping unless you are wearing lenses like Ortho K lens that are designed to be worn while sleeping to reshape the cornea.

Good Luck and I know you will like contacts

  5. In my case, contact lenses really irritate my eyes when they are left in for more than a few hours. That's because I have dry eyes and the lenses make them feel worse. I wish I could wear them for the extended periods I used to but I guess it will never change.

  6. Well at first, it will probably be a bit scary putting them in. You probably won't even be able to put them in after a few times since it's such a big change trying to touch your eye, but once you get used to it, it'll be very easy and quick. ^^

Also if you get the soft contacts, I prefer acuvue, you'll barely feel them. :D
