What are filipinos?

Are we asian? Or are we Pacific Islanders?

Filipinos are Asians because it means the citizens of the Philippines which is located in Southeast Asia

Ethnically the unmixed filipino would be of austronesian stock (and yes i do recognize the fact that "Austronesian" is merely a language group and by no means can define an ethnic group per say, but, most of the modern day "Austronesians" share a common proto-austronesian ancestor) and "Austronesians" are spread from the Pacific Islands, across south east asia and down to Africa (Madagascar). So taking this from an "ethnic point of view" won't take us far. Besides, "asian" is by no means an ethnic group or even a "race". It is an ancestry group for all people of Asia, from Iran to China; From Kazakhstan and down to Yemen (That is, if you do count Yemen and the Arabian Penisula as a whole,"Asian". For me, Asia begins at Iran an ends at Japan.) So are you asian? Yes. Can you be classified as a pacific islander? Yes. The Phillipines are considered "Asian" as a nation, but really, they are ISLANDS in the PACIFIC. So.. I would personally consider them pacific islanders. But from an official point of view, you are indeed Asian. Happy?

We are both, but in our genes, we are Asian (Southeast Asian to be exact). So don't be confused.
