Oxycontin in the long acting form of the drug Oxycodone which is a synthetic opiod.  

It is coated in such a way so that it can be taken once a day achieving a fairly steady blood level instead of every 4-6 hours like Oxycodone which can cause vast fluctuations in pain control.

People have died by crushing the oxycontin and ingesting it thereby releasing a large dose all at once.

Oxycontins are an S8 drug( controlled drug). Highly addictive. Alot of cancer patients use them. Best not to be used unless prescribed for you.
