pop ups are those unwanted screens that keeps on popping up even if not clicked. mostly are ads on the net and these mostly comes from sites you had visited also.

some pop ups are when you are being alerted to update your software you have in your computer or any applications such as the Quicktime, iTunes, Java, antivirus updates, windows updates, and the like are considered not to be ignored. but if those pop ups are mostly commercial ads from sites, you need to have a pop up blocker for that. a computer infected for virus will pop up something too.

i guess you have already the hints on what is a pop up.

Additional site links attached to a website are known as popups they might me some Advertisement etc thats why we want to block them try www.songs.pk this is a site to download the bollywood songs and check out the popups.

Pop ups, when you are surfing, are 3rd party 'cookies'.  These originate from another server different from the one you specifically want to see.

If you want to turn them off do this: In your browser go to 'Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced > here, click 'Override...' , 'Allow session cookies', 'Allow 1st party cookies' and 'TURN OFF 3rd PARTY COOKIES.

when u click on a site automatically other sites like advertisements or p*r*o's open that is called pop up.  its called pop ups cos it pops like pop+corns when u r preparing them

They are advertisements which open usually without your control when you visit certain websites.

They open in a new window/tab and are annoying, hence the name 'pop-up'.

You can block most of them if you download a popup blocker but some will still get through.
