What are some landfill alternatives?

I'm looking for a few suggestions on landfill alternatives. What's more environmentally friendly? What works/doesn't, and why? I've found some info about composting. Others? It's surprisingly hard to find current data about this, or maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Thanks!

Not shopping so much, learning to live with less, and paying more for things that will last longer and not need to be thrown away so soon.

Recycling. Using less packaging.

Banning plastic. Every bit of plastic that was ever made is still on the planet.

We could eat the garbage or heap it up in big piles and worship it.   Ooops!  Sorry!,  too many people are already doing that and it isn't helping.

Recycling is obviously the most eco-friendly.  It is also the most labor- and energy-intensive.

Incineration and burial at sea are other alternatives.  They're probably not as eco-friendly as landfills.

and it is simple ,but the cures start at home

the worst you can do is throw it with the trash

70% of contamination is due to organic waste that is mixed in with the garbage .

and it is just as bad in the sewer where it helps to breed rats and in the landfill it poisons the ground

and it is the easiest to take care of

o first of all we have to clasify trash at least keep the organic to one side ,like in a plasic bin with a lid

if you got a few meters of ground ,you only need 1 or 2 square meters in a shallow hole ,in the shade ,that you can wet now and again ,where you dump everything that is organic ,from toilet paper,bones vegetable cuttings ,eggshells,,dead bodies ,excrement ,and cover regularly with leaves to keep humid and to hide any smell

the worms will come and decompose the wastes truning it into beautifull blck soil for the garden of flower pots .

if you are in a apartment ,if you have a balcony get a big plastic bin drill some holes in the side and lid ,

and add a few buckets of sand now and again to put over the trash ,you should realt stir or move the stuff at times to airate it and ensure that the decomposition is overall ,keep moist

the rest of the trash should be recycled as much as is possible ,and will be economically viable if only people would clasify their trash ,it is the seperation and sorting that is labour intensive and costs the money

but human Nature ,as well as antisocial behaviour and people just not caring is the biggest obstruction to this idea ,so mixed contaminating trash is put into land fills which slowley poison the ground for centuries to come

how about designing products so that the organic components can be returned to the environment and the technical or non-organic components can be reused in their entirety by the industry that made them in the first place.

the first part of this is pretty simple.  paper should be made with less chemicals so it is easier to recycle as a natural product.  clothes should contain less chemical dies and other material so they could be rewoven or used as composting material without any chemical leaks into the soil.

the second part is a bit trickier but basically means deconstructing products once their usefulness is over and reassembling new products from the usable parts.  this would mean for example instead of '\making new plastic bottles from old tv cases, using the old tv cases to enclose the other components for a new tv.

people who buy the non-organic products ought to be able to trade in their old tvs computers, etc for new ones and get a price break for trading in the stuff sort of like trading in a car except that the parts would be used to make new tvs instead of just being resold as a used item.  this puts the plastics and other components back into consumption instead of the landfill.
