Teutonic tribes were mentioned as a Germanic tribe by Greek and Roman authors.The terms Teuton and Teutonic have sometimes been used in reference to all of the Germanic peoples as the german word for germans "deutches" comes from the old "theutches", which refers to the teutons.

The Teutons were Germanic tribes.

Interestingly though, there was also a celtic tribe also known as the Teutones,whose primary god was called Teutatis.The name means roughly 'the tribe' or 'the people' and the same root word is found in the Irish Tuatha de danann, people of Danu.

Some do say the biggest difference between celts and germanic tribes was one of language.
