What are the Symbols of August

My friend and I decided to draw something for each others birthday this year. We are both born in August, he is born on the 16 and I am on the 22. He is from Russia and says that the watermelon is sorta a symbol for august over there. I also know that the flower is a gladiolus or a poppy, the stone is period, and the zodiac leo. What I want to know is if there are any other symbols. They can be from the US, Russia or wherever.

the zodiac symbol is actually kinda lame. if i were u id have a lion of some sort on there (Leo) thats what i would like since my bday is on the 19th XD

According to Chinese age-old customs , The emblem of August is The Orange . They choosed the orange as symbols of this month because it represents the prosper , joys and merriment of life .
