What are the best punching bags?

Does century make good punching bags. I am handeling the materials for my karate class and right now are item is bags. Which would be better hanging or standing. We can spend up to $400 will that be enough to buy to pads?

Best Standing Bag I know of and have used myself is calld "Wave Master XXL".

The brand doesn't matter too much. What does matter is getting a hanging bag. There's little point in standing in front of an immobile object and pounding away at it. You want a bag that will sway so that you can practice your movement and distancing.

A standing bag will just stand there as you thrash it, which no real opponent will do.

I would say a hanging bag because, you can really get a good punch or power kick off by pushing the bag one way and meeting it in the middle with your kick good POWER kick.  But yea, a hanging bag is best.  Brand.....All are made good but I would say Everlast for punching the heavy bag but for punching and kicking you will want to look into a Thai style heavy bag look into a brand called TWINS.....very VERY good stuff.....Good Luck :)

tell you what you need to do is take that 400 dollars and go to your nearest academys.dude the punching bags and pads are really cheap with good quality. now as for as standing or hanging goes hanging is your choice.

p.s. if ever have the money look into a glidebox for your training.the bag hangs from it and moves side to side upand down while you hit on it.its like really sparring but not getting hit back.www.glidebox.com  ...i think

At the end of the day a punching pag is exactly what it sounds like, a bag filled with something that you punch...  You don't even need anything fancy, you can make your own out of a large duffel bag filled with rags or old clothes...  Having an expensive bag will not make you a better fighter, it's the time that you spend hitting it with good form that makes you have good punches...

But remember this is only a small part of the whole game.

Just go to your local sports store and buy the best one that you can afford...  You can always upgrade later if you wear it out.
