  1. Diabetes canNOT be diagnoses from symptoms alone but based on what you have said it does NOT sound like you have diabetes.

The doctro shouold do an A1C test. This test measures your average blood sugar over the last 90 days.  If it is normal then you probably do NOT have diabetes.

If the A1C reading is HIGH then the doctor may order a second test called Glucose Tolerance Test.  This test takes about 3-4 hours in the doctor office, but it will tell you definately if you have diabetes or not.

If the A1C reading is LOW then you might have HYPOGLYCEMIA.  That is TOO LOW blood sugar, caused by not eating enough.

BE VERY CAREFUL.  If the doctor just sticks you finger then takes a measurement with a meter, that is NOT an A1C test.  That is called a "finger stick" test, and it is NOT good for diagnosing diabetes.

Insist that your doctor give you the A1C test, and go from there.

  2. Increased thirst

    weight gain or loss

getting really sleepy after a big meal

    dizzy

    nervous

    sweaty

    urinating alot

    having shaky spells

    nausea

The doctor can do a test called A1c to find out if you are diabetic. It requires a blood sample from you. It measures the sugar in your blood.  I am a type II diabetic, which means that I developed diabetes after I became an adult.  The above symptoms are ones that I have, and I produce insullin but my body doesn't use it properly.  Talk to your doctor tomorrow about the difference between type I and type II.

  3. I didn't have any "signs" when I was diagnosed. But here is a fairly complete list of them: http://chinese-school.netfirms.com/diabe...

Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem so harmless. Recent studies indicate that the early detection of diabetes symptoms and treatment can decrease the chance of developing the complications of diabetes.

    Some diabetes symptoms include:

    Frequent urination

    Excessive thirst

    Extreme hunger

    Unusual weight loss

    Increased fatigue

    Irritability

    Blurry vision

If you have one or more of these diabetes symptoms, see your doctor right away.
