I mean, out of how many states actually recycle? 25 out of 50? 15 out of 50? I know that not all the staes recycle (but they should) so I would like to get an idea of which states do. And why don't the other states recycle?

  1. not Minnesota, theres recycle bins around in some places, but then the garbage man comes around and throws it all in the garbage

  2. Here is the website that will tell you

  3. Recycling is not handled by states...it's handled by cities, towns, counties, etc... LOCAL government.

Almost all localities at this point have at least "drop off" recycling (i.e. you have to take your stuff to a recycling center), while most major cities have "pick up" recycling (trucks pick up bags or cans of recycling from your home/business, either free or for a small fee).  Pick up is obviously much easier, so it has a much higher participation rate.

Why don't the rest have it?  Lack of money...lack of public demand...and, I would argue, lack of serious consideration of our collective responsibilities to the earth.
