What camera should I get???

Question

I had a Casio Exilim 10MP 3X zoom and I LOVED it!!! Took incredible pix. But, it broke after 1 year... AND i paid $400 for it :(

I want another digital camera that takes GOOD pictures. People thought my pix from Kauai were professional, THAT is how good this camera was!

Any suggestions? I looked at a Nikon Coolpix but I dont know.

Oh and preferrably in the 2-300 dollar range, but I WILL spend more if the camera is worth it!

canon eos....my brother bought one for 200 and it's amazing. it shoots awesome video too, I was blown away with some of the video he's taken.

I like the Canon Powershot S5 IS. It is 8 megapixel with 12x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and a bunch of shooting scene modes. (has video capabilities too) It's usually a little over $300.

The Canon G9 is a bit higher in price (approx $450), but takes excellent pictures, and can even shoot RAW if you want to be able to post process.

Considering your budget, I would stay away from dSLR's, because while you can find a body for around the money you want to spend, you still need to buy lenses, and that will (in some cases dramatically increase the money needed).

I have the Nikon D80 but that's more bucks. Beautiful camera though!

The D40 is around the $400 range I think. See if you can get a used one of those....
