Question:

What camera to choose?

I'm starting photography, and the camrea I am currently using is a Polaroid i631. I've been told by many people, two photographers, that my photography is great for the camera I'm with. I've finally decided to get a new camera, but I'm not sure if I want a Nikon or a Canon. One of the photographers told me that Canon is the best to get, but I'm still not sure. I mainly want to take close-up pictures, so I want a camera with great focus and clarity. Help?

  1. This is a lame answer, but both Nikon and Canon make excellent DSLRs.

My personal favorite is the Canon XSi, but if you're on a budget the Nikon D40 is very good.

If you're looking to print larger, look into Nikon D60.

Canon's Xti is also very good, and does not put as much of a dent in your pocketbook.

All of the above are considered entry level DSLRs.

  2. I LOVE canon so that's what I would choose.

  3. For close up pictures with focus, Nikon is BEST. Nikon has best colors (most natural).

Panasonic/Canon are second in my opinion (less vivid) while Sony/Kodak (the others I have seen) are third (too dark/unreal).

My basic Nikon camera (coolpix 2500) produced better colours than a more advanced Canon one (A640). I have also seen many Canon/Sony pics from friends, the colours are not as good as Nikon.

  4. id say get a Nikon i love my D60 D40 is also good ..

i think Nikon's are more fashion forward but thats just my opinion
