  1. Hopefully you have flakes on hand. When are you going to the store? You should be able to give the cichlids flake food uuntilyou can go to the store and buy cichlid pellets, they have the floating or sinking kids to choose from. There is also more cichlid foods to choose from so your fish get the right nutrients in their diet.

  2. You should give them cichlid food sticks, available at Petco.  also as a treat, you can feed them dry worms.

  3. Leah,

You should let Jack's know that you need to know what species they are selling to give the best care you can.  Not all Africans are herbivores, nor are all of them carnivores either.  You can very much use a flake food, in fact I reccommend a base flake food as it is.  Aim for one that is spiralina encoated.  Fish aren't like dogs or cats, so if you can't feed them today, or even if you offer them food today and they don't eat, it's not a major issue really.

To find the optimal foods for your fish though, we'd need to know exactly what species you have.  For now, use a spiralina coated flake food.

  4. The Tetra flake foods will probably serve you well.

  5. They like catching their food so depending ont heir size, guppies, or small crickets, they can also eat freeze dried blood worm, brine shrimp and stuff like that.
