  2. well, brocky,  if its the one in new zealand, just ask my dad, he knows everything about it.and i also told you earlier, but i cant remember

  3. I can remember a crowd of protestors storming on to the field in Hamilton prior to the game and the spectators were chanting kill, kill, kill.     The police were unable to move the group and the game was cancelled.      Later on in the tour; a pilot of a low flying aircraft hit one of the All Blacks on the head with a flour bomb.     It was at Eden Park, Auckland and I can remember to this day; seeing that aircraft diving towards the park and thinking it was going to crash.     I was not at the park but in view of the a/c.     No it didn't crash but was real close.

  4. It was a anti-apartheid protest mainly towards South Africa.

South African rugby had separate teams  for whites, "coloureds" and "blacks".

The latter two where never allowed to play in the National team, Brian Habana's father was one of them!

Here is a link that may help!

  5. The racial policies of the South African govt had led to a sports boycott of that nation. The NZ Rugby Union ignored the boycott and invited South Africa to tour- believing that the team was mixed race(they did have Errol Tobias in the squad).

Protests were made to bring attention to the racist policies of the SA govt. Rugby fans opposed the protesters believing politics should not interfere with sport.

  6. i was 14yrs old when it happen,me and my mates were playing school boy rugby in Auckland New Zealand. We are a multi-cultural race in New Zealand where we dnt give a toss whether you are black, white, red, yellow or what ever.Thats why we are a staunch nation and overachieve in every sports.

Apartied is a filthy word and we dnt stand for racisim in our country,as much as i wanted to see the Boks vrs the ALLBLACKS the whole nation went on protest against the tour here and it was like watching the old footage of the vietnam protest in the states and the race protests it was scary. Our country was divided cause alot wanted to see the rugby but the majority tried everything in its power to stop it.

The protest was against Apartied and racisim.

But the test series was a classic,if you can try and get the test series from the archives ALLBLACKS vrs THE BOKS 1981 it was a classic and one of the best and memeroble test series ever played in ALLBLACK history

  7. south africa and appartheid caused the 81 tour protest and more new zealanders should of supported it

  8. The british and irish lions toured in the aparthied era...there were protests everywhere as aparthied south africa had all sorts of trade embargoes and restrictions..that the lions broke. The protests were basically about stopping the tour and they came from every direction...but they had the irionic effect of black south africans supporting the lions and desperately wanting the british lions to beat the springboks...not sure the last part is true or if it is just media spin tbh.
