I'm an American. I really, really wish to go to college in England for languages and culture. What would you say the best colleges are, and what would you warn a foreigner about?

  1. Oxford, cambridge,

  2. Best colleges are Cambridge, Oxford, University of London, Imperial, and Kings.

Cambridge and Oxford obviously require years of intense preparation to be competitive for admission, so unless you think you could get into an Ivy league without much problem you shouldn't bother applying there.

University of London is a great school, look at that one, especially if your into Asia or Africa because of the School of Oriental and African Studies (great for everything else too).

  3. Uni of Sussex has a great English dept.

Uni of Edinburgh is a really good school ( in Scotland)

Theres a Uni I think called Uni of Westminister that deals with African studies and languages.

If I was you though, unless you live in the NorthEast

Id stick to the South of England ( London and below)

as the weather is nicer ( if nice weather can exist in UK...)

London is great but incredibly expensive, especially with the dollar as it is.

Good country and Great experience though
