I have been living with this for awhile - about 2 years. I'm only 14... I am a vegetarian, hopefully I'll be a vegan soon. I drink plenty of liquids, and I eat mostly organic foods. I run track - well I've been on break, but once school starts again I'll restart track. I don't go for 3 weeks at a time. I will soon make start making a book of what I eat, and such. I went to the doctor and he said it's normal, and gave me mirlax to take everyday. It did work - kind of- It was unconformable and I had bad cramping. It's laxative, and I don't want to go to school

With a laxative. I take antibiotic because my face -acne- has been really bad for the past 2 years. So the antibiotic helped -a lot- So I cannot stop them. I started to take probiotic so that my body could balance. I've tried taking alot of fiber and all it does is give me gas, and makes me extremely bloated. I need to go to the doctor and ask for a blood test - but I am deadly afraid of needles- I want to go to the doctor fully informed on what diseases cause this problem. Are there any diseases?

Thank you so much, This has taken over my life.

*Anyone with this problem please tell me how to make myself a little more conformable.

*And please don't tell me "Drink more water, and have more fiber"

I know this. Thank you so very much

  1. You need professional help for the constipation, and you need help to get over your fear of needles.

Let's deal with the needle thing. I had the same problem - even thinking about a blood test made me feel sick. But then I got really sick and ended up with tubes hanging out of me all over the place and after that, needles don't scare me anymore. There are worse things than needles... seriously, if you go to your doc - maybe you need a new doc, one who will listen - the needle thing is common and easily overcome - one easy way is by using ice (or a rub-on anaesthetic) to numb the inside of your arm. Make sure you don't look, and you won't even feel the needle go in. I used to make sure I did it lying down with my feet up on the wall. That way I couldn't faint - all the blood was in my head! Make a fuss and be persistent - once people realise you are determined and that it IS an issue, there are ways around it. You are not a 'Wuss', it's not about pain, it's about the sick feeling, right? So it's not about 'being brave'. Take someone with you, get them to be beside you, and get them to force you to talk to them about something that needs your concentration, something complicated, like Maths, or translating French to English.  I used to tell the Nurse she had 2 choices - let me lie down, or pick my 17 stone inert body up off the floor. Her choice. Amazing how quick they find a bed...

As to the constipation, there is a link between colon cancer and the time it takes for wastes to exit your system.  Not doing a dump for 3 weeks? that's not good, buddy, that's bad. Usual constipation causes are diet, stress, physical inaction. So people who do a desk job, never go to the gym or do anything physical, and eat the wrong foods are prime targets for constipation. Constipation can also cause piles, and they really are a pain in the butt :-). Constipation also has links to not enough fluids, or maybe your intestines are not retaining enough fluid to keep the stuff soft. Is it a normal (i.e. soft) motion? Or is it hard like little pellets? Hard = not enough fluid and too long 'in the pipe'. Soft means enough fluid but some other reason for the slow-down in the system. Either way, get some professional help, buddy, 'cos being like that isn't doing you any good at all. Do you really have to take antibiotics? You can develop an immunity you know. Then when you really need them, for some serious infection, they might not work.

Good Luck. See your Doc. Jump up and down and make him/her listen.

    Steve
