I was just playing with my little chinchilla, and she was doing something out of the ordinary. She was jumping and kind of twisting her head and sometimes it would happen 2 or 3 times in a row. I don't know what it is! And I'm really worried about her! if anyone knows what I mean please answer.

  1. What you are describing sounds JUST like what my chinchilla does when he's hyper! She's just having fun and releasing some energy. She's a very happy chinchilla. I've seen rabbits and mice do it too. So don't worry, it's not a seizure. She's just playing.

My chinchilla also has seizure episodes though. He falls over, arches his back and pulls his lips back with his feet twitching then comes out of it after a few minutes.

  2. When one of my boys had a seizure, he was lying on his side and convulsing like a person would. This, however, happened because he became too hot while playing. As you describe it, it doesn't sound like a seizure, maybe more like a sneeze or an itchy shake or something. But do be sure that your chinchilla doesn't become to hot, signs of this are red ears and in extremes, seizures.
