They are really big on open sandwiches for lunch 'smorrebrod' (literally, buttered bread) and they have toppings like: pickled herring with onion & salad, roast pork (they eat lots of pork and its products) prunes and a curl of fresh orange, liver paste & sauteed mushrooms, real delicatessen stuff.  Dinner is meat/potatoes/vegatables, they make meatballs called 'frikadeller' veg: Leeks, kale, cabbage, carrots, beets, celeriac The Danes also are big on Cheese with types called Tybo (carroway seeds) Danbo,  Havarti, Danish St Paulin, Crema Dania, Danish Blue don't forget the Danish Pastry that is now worldwide.  Good luck
